What are Wearingeul inks?
Wearingeul is a South Korean ink brand that designs fountain pen inks inspired by classic literature and the natural world. Each ink in the collection is tied to a specific story, from Moby Dick's stormy blues to 1984's dystopian greys.
Founded in 2018, Wearingeul has built a cult following among fountain pen enthusiasts for its shading, shimmering, and glistening inks, plus innovative additives that let you customise your own colours. We're proud to stock the full range at Bookbinders Design.
Which Wearingeul inks are based on which books?
Each Wearingeul colour and collection is an homage to a famous work of literature or a literary figure, blending the mood of the written word with the visual pleasure of colour. What sets Wearingeul apart is the way they design inks to mirror the themes and emotions embedded in the stories they celebrate.
For instance, their Alice in Wonderland and Wonderful Wizard of Oz series feature some of the most whimsical hues that will transport you to the surreal world, while their inks inspired by world literature classics reflect the mood of some of the most iconic literary works of all time.
The ink inspired by Moby Dick draws inspiration from the deep blues of the ocean and the greyness of the tumultuous journey at sea, encapsulating the fierce and mysterious atmosphere of Herman Melville’s novel. The emerald and blue hues of Robinson Crusoe transport one to a lonely, but serene place.
You can almost feel the sombre, dystopian reality of George Orwell’s masterpiece in 1984, or the dramatic tension of Phantom of the Opera - in our opinion, one of their most striking shades.

The collection is ongoing, with new literary inks released regularly. Here's the full reference for what we currently stock at Bookbinders Design.

Korean Modern Poets Collection
The Korean modern poet collection groups inks by poet rather than by individual work, with each ink drawing on imagery and themes from the writer's broader poetry. The collection includes inks honouring Yun Dong-ju (The Sky, Seasons Passing By; A Star Spattered Hill; Shoot the Moon), Jung Ji-yong (A Watery Star; Grape-Colored Night), Yi Sang (Soyoungwije; A Taxidermied Genius; Architecture Infinite Cube), Kim So-wol (Half Moon with Dimmed Light), Lee Yuk-sa (Dizzy Scent of Maehwa; Dewy Starlight; The Autumn Night after a Thousand Years; 7 Colored Ocean; Black Dream), and the Korean Female Modern Writers series (Human Issues; Path).
